Even today, Jean-Pierre Beckius is often referred to as the "painter of the Moselle", while his paintings are characterised by a wide variety of motifs and his artistic skill goes far beyond imitating Impressionist painting.

To mark the 125th birthday of Jean-Pierre Beckius, the exhibition presents the different periods that characterise the painter's work. It focuses on little-known or completely unknown works by the artist, who left behind a vast legacy of paintings and drawings, most of which belonged to his family. The selection is complemented by works from the Villa Vauban collections. These are mainly works produced abroad, in France, Italy and the Netherlands, but also portraits of members of the Beckius family. Photographs document the artist's life.
