The work of Jean-Pierre Beckius, who is famous for his paintings of the Moselle region, is in fact characterised by a great variety of motifs and a personal style of painting inspired by Impressionism. On the occasion of his 125th birthday, an exhibition of 90 paintings and studies shows the different characteristic periods of the painter’s oeuvre.
The exhibition focuses on Beckius’ less or unknown works, stemming from his vast legacy in his family’s possession or from other private collections. The selection is complemented by works from the Villa Vauban collection. All these works were mainly created abroad, in France, Italy and the Netherlands, and are supplemented by family portraits.
