The exhibition is dedicated to the famous English publisher John Boydell, who was undoubtedly one of the most remarkable figures in 18th-century England.

In 1769, he published A Collection of Prints, Engraved from the most Capital Paintings in England. A second volume was completed in 1772. In the 1790s, Boydell devoted himself to an entrepreneurial project that included the creation of a Shakespeare Gallery and the publication of an illustrated edition of Shakespeare's plays. Some of the most famous painters of his time participated in the project.

Five engravings published by Boydell, as well as an early and a late engraving of the Shakespeare Gallery, produced during Boydell's lifetime, are on display.
