Temporary closure of the Villa Vauban
The Villa Vauban - Musée d'Art de la Ville de Luxembourg is closed for technical upgrading work. It will reopen at the beginning of June 2021.
The period from February to April will be devoted to maintenance work and the renewal of certain technical installations that have become necessary after 10 years of operation and 34 exhibitions. This will be followed in May by the installation of the new permanent exhibition, entitled "A Walk through Art. European Paintings and Sculptures, 17th-19th Centuries". The exhibition, which includes numerous masterpieces, will take the visitor on a journey through three centuries of artistic creation, from the Dutch 17th century through the dreamy places of Italy to French painting in the mid-19th century. The public will be able to discover this major exhibition, entirely dedicated to the City's collections, from 5 June 2021.
In the meantime, the Villa's garden will remain open during the museum's usual opening hours and will host, from 27 April and as part of the 8th European Month of Photography, the installation "Landscapes of the Kairos" by the artists Dominique Auerbacher and Holger Trülzsch.
